How I choose, test and update the names on this site, and what I do when something goes wrong.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Who is responsible
I own, write and edit this site. No outside writers or sponsors are involved, so every page and every name passes through me. You can reach me through the contact page.
How I choose names
Sound comes first. A stage name has to work when a host announces it over loud music, so I favor words that are easy to say and easy to hear. I also look for words that carry a clear mood, such as velvet for sultry or nightshade for gothic.
The glam and pageant styles lean on polished surnames with a French or old-money feel. The cute style borrows from candy and pastry words. I draw on common naming traditions like puns and grand surnames, and I do not copy lists from other sites.
What I leave out
Some names never make the cut.
- Real people, including singers, actors and public figures.
- Specific fictional characters and brand names.
- Slurs, and jokes aimed at race, religion, disability, sexuality or gender identity.
- Graphic or crude wording, even when it would get a laugh.
Drag humor often plays with bold ideas. I still keep these lists playful enough that anyone can open the generator without a warning.
How I test and review
Before each update, I run every style through a batch of letter and own-word combinations. A script flags blank results, repeated names and stray symbols. I then read any new additions myself. I review the full lists whenever I add a style, and at least once a year.
Facts and opinions
The numbers on this site come from the generator itself. The figure of about 2,500 combinations comes from multiplying each style's first names by its surnames and adding the 50 funny puns. I update that figure whenever the lists change.
Statements about what makes a good stage name are my opinion. I try to label them that way.
Tools I use
I use software to help me draft text, write code and test the site, including AI writing assistants. I review and approve everything before it goes live, and I am responsible for the result.
Funding and independence
This site currently has no ads, sponsors or affiliate links. Name results are never ranked, changed or removed for payment. If that changes, I will say so on the page where it applies and update this policy first.
Corrections and complaints
If you find a mistake or an offensive name, please tell me. Use the contact page and choose "Report an offensive name" or "Report a problem." Include the exact name and the style you used.
I check each report myself. I remove a hateful name as soon as I confirm it.
Changes to this policy
I update this page when my process changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
